My definition is meant to be humorous, but in all seriousness, I would agree. At first attempt 50cc can be challenging.

In my defense, I have found that simply holding down the A button easily propels me into first place, without having to use items, turn boosts, wheelies, etc. But this comes after playing through other modes.

I would disagree on this point. 50 cc is easy, don't get me wrong, but this is coming from the perspective of two experienced Mario Kart players. But for a new player who is having difficulties with the controls, it is not that simple. Examples: the first Mario Kart game I played was MK64 and I was AWEFUL. Taking 4th place was an achievement no matter what. I simply could not play that game very well, even at 50cc. Also, my brother-in-law has played a little bit of Mario Kart on the Wii. I know, looking at his license, that there are a few cups that do not have gold on them.

While it is easy, I wouldn't discredit 50cc for causing noobs a great amount of frustration.
